An update from your rural officers |
||||||
Dear Resident,
A big part of the work our Rural Crime Action Team (RCAT) do is maintaining strong relationships with the members of our rural communities so we can work together to tackle any issues.
Last week, we met with some landowners who have been dealing with quadbikes damaging their fields. As some of the land is already growing crops, every time a bike cuts across the field, the plants get destroyed and ultimately affect the harvest. There have also been other fields that have been freshly drilled in preparation for planting but the tyre tracks mean that it will have to be done again – costing time, fuel, and money. To some, this may just seem like harmless fun, but these actions have a significant impact on the famers and shows a complete disregard for the hard work they do.
Whilst on patrols in Thorney and Eye, we also discovered several incidents of fly tipping. We have liaised with Peterborough City Council, who will arrange for the waste to be cleared. Fly tipping places an unnecessary financial burden on both the council and local landowners, and we continue to work in partnership to tackle this issue together. You can report fly tipping to the council here.
Have a rural concern? Report it here.
